Quezon Province is now Conflict Manageable
With the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) held at Quezon Provincial Capitol, Lucena City, around 2:00 PM on September 8, 2016, the Province of Quezon was formally declared as Conflict Manageable and Ready for Further Development (CMRFD).
The MOU was signed by the Quezon Province Governor, David C. Suarez, MGen Romeo G Gan AFP, Commander, 2ID who was represented by BGen Amador T Tabuga Jr AFP, Assistant Division Commander, 2ID, and Police Chief Superintendent Valfrie G Tabian, Acting Regional Director PRO-4A.
During the said activity, Gov. Suarez expressed his deepest gratitude to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and to the Philippine National Police for its sacrifices and dedication to duty, particularly in fighting for insurgency.
He also stressed that the declaration of Quezon Province as CMRFD is a milestone on their resolve to further sustain peace and development in the Province with the help of the AFP, PNP and other stakeholders.
Lt Gen Ferdinand F Quidilla AFP, Commander, Southern Luzon Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines, on the other hand, applauded the Province of Quezon and insured them of a continuous support from the AFP.
“I salute the Quezonians for putting their best foot forward in making Quezon peaceful and now ready for further development. Your armed forces, together with the police and the Local Government of Quezon will remain active in its quest of bringing peace and security to the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to MGen Gan, the said declaration opens another opportunity for the Province of Quezon to have a greater life that is geared towards our goal of attaining lasting peace and sustainable development.
As stated on the MOU, the province now takes the lead role in the implementation of its socio-economic programs which will be supported by the AFP, PNP and other stakeholders.
Also present during the said activity were; Col Lenard T Agustin INF (GSC) PA, Commander, 201st Brigade, 2ID; Col Dida INF (GSC) PA, Commander, 202nd Brigade; and Col Rolando C Manalo GSC (INF) PA, Commander 902nd Brigade, 9ID along with other Officers from Southern Luzon Command, 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division, and 9th Infantry (Spear) Division.
