Brigade Commander as the Keynote Speaker, a total of 120 civilians who successfully passed the CAA Basic Military Training Class 60 and 61 – 2016 were declared graduates on June 30, 2015, around 9:30 AM at 201st
Brigade Headquarters, Camp Santos, Calauag, Quezon.
Said CAA members who started their training last May 18, 2016, are now equipped with basic military skills and will serve as part-time soldiers.
They will act as force multipliers to 201st Infantry Brigade, 2nd
Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division Philippine Army in securing the local communities against lawless elements under the unit’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).
They will also be augmented to different patrol bases in the area of 201st
Bde to assist in the community development activities and assistance, as well as in the campaign against threats in the locality.
On his message, Col Agustin emphasized the importance of CAA and community participation in sustaining peace and development.
“The strategic approach on defeating the enemy and winning the peace cannot be completely attained without the participation of the community. Indeed, being a CAA volunteer manifests a selfless action to defeat insurgency and subsequently attain peace and development in the countryside,” he said.
He also urged and reminded new graduates to prove their worth and be guided on the discipline that was imposed to everyone, “Do not use illegal drugs, because in the military profession, that is a non-negotiable offense.”
Likewise, he challenged the CAFGU Battalion, “Let us continue to endeavor more qualified civilian volunteers to join our ranks once the appropriation in the future is approved, because they are the one that we really need in order to insulate the communities from insurgents.”
On the other hand, according to LTC Andres F Ferrer INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer 59th
Infantry (Protector) Battalion (CAFGU), the new members of CAA will compensate to the ideally needed forces to ensure security in various areas.
