CAMP GEN MATEO CAPINPIN, TANAY, RIZAL – The Commander, 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division, MGen Romeo G Gan AFP graced the inauguration of charcoal briquetting production on April 15, 2015 at Headquarters, 2nd CMO Battalion.
Said production is an environmental and livelihood project of 2nd CMO Battalion headed by Lt Col Eric C Guevarra Inf (GSC) PA which will be introduced to various communities in the area of operations.
The charcoal briquettes are produced from agricultural wastes such as leaves, twigs, stems, coconut husks, corn cobs, rice hulls and other farm wastes.
The said project aimed to reduce pressure in cutting or using woods from the natural forest, which is traditionally used for charcoal production. It also provides additional source of income and resource recovery to farmers.
According to Maj Leoncito I Grezula Jr, Operations Officer, 2nd CMO Bn, the briquettes cost fifteen pesos (P15.00) per pack of twenty (20) medium sizes and will be sold to local barbecue vendors in the area of Rizal.
The said inauguration started at 10:00 am with a ceremonial blessing officiated by Maj Domingo L Labrilla CHS (PA) and cutting of ribbon headed by MGen Gan and BGen Ferdinand F Quidilla AFP, the newly installed Assistant Division Commander, 2ID.
The activity was also attended by Dra Cecil Ocaban – Gan, wife of MGen Gan and Mrs. Frances Joy Bendoval – Quidilla, wife of BGen Quidilla along with Jungle Fighter Officers and Enlisted Personnel.
