2ID conducts Earthquake Drill

CAMP GEN MATEO CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – In preparation to the 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake that might hit the National Capital Region (NCR), and in conjunction with the National Earthquake “Shake” Drill, the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division, Philippine Army conducted an Earthquake Drill on July 30, 2015 at around 10:30 am. All 2ID Officers, Enlisted Personnel, Civilian Employees, and CAFGUs, as well as all dependents, teachers, and pupils inside Camp Capinpin participated on the said activity. With the long siren signalling the start of the drill, everyone dropped, sought cover, observed, and then proceeded at the open areas inside camp such as the Division Quadrangle, in front of the Division Grandstand and DTS Grandstand, and golf fairway among others. Said activity was followed by a Debriefing Activity spearheaded by COL Lenard T Agustin GSC (INF) PA, Chief of Staff, 2ID in order to ensure preparedness whenever the earthquake will occur. Likewise, prior to the said earthquake Drill and Debriefing Activity, LTC Dennis Perez GSC (INF) PA, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3, conducted a lecture about the importance of Earthquake Preparedness Drill, and the “DOs & DON’Ts” during the occurrence of earthquake wherein he emphasized the “DROP, HOLD, COVER” method. Meanwhile, MGen Romeo G Gan AFP, Commander, 2ID, stressed the importance of the said activity. “Being vanguards of peace and development, all Jungle Fighters must be equipped with the knowledge and skills in order to be able to safeguard themselves and extend help to others in any eventualities or calamities.
